Transportation Standards, TR
Below is the link to the reviewed/revised/reformatted standards for what, in the current Accreditation Process Guide, are the Transportation Standards (TR).
What’s different?
- Re-organization of standards into general topic areas (ex: all standards that deal with “Procedures” are together).
- All of the guidelines for APPLICABILITY are now located in the very beginning of the section and not scattered throughout.
What’s Gone?
- TR-2: Traffic Control.
- TR-3: Arrival and Departure (now covered in what is currently numbered TR-4).
- From “old” TR-6, the requirement about availability and location of health information. This will be covered in the HW Section as well as in the PD Section.
- TR-8: Bus/van supervisor (now covered in what is currently numbered TR-5).
- TR-18 (now included in Driver Training, currently numbered TR-15).
Please note: Once all revisions/reformatting have been completed, all standards will be assigned the appropriate number.
Comment period is now closed.

New TR-14
Please consider DNA for 14A if the driver only drives golf carts. I do not believe it is necessary to get a driving record for someone who only drives golf carts. Besides, they may not even have a driving license to check.
second Darin's suggestion
I agree that hayrides are not the only possible legitimate reason for revising this standard wording. It would help tremendously with backcountry trail heads we need to access, but won't be having a hayride to get to!
new tr2
I've always had an issue with the wording of the exception to the non-passenger vehicle standard. It stipulates use for hayrides given safety precautions. If the safety precautions are in place do we really need to call out "hayrides". I would propose:
"The exception is when wagons or trucks are driven at slow speeds (5–10 mph) off public roads, and where protective devices are provided to keep people from falling out or off of the vehicle."
Transportation Section
I agree with Maile in that the reference to booster seats in the new TR-7 needs to be in the standard rather than just in the "CE." Change the reference to TR-9 in the CE to TR-7.
Additionally, you will want to change the reference to TR-15 in the CE of TR-13 to that number.
Transportation Section
I like the improved wording for the new TR-2 (old TR-4) It is very clear
TR-5 mentions a waiver to be found in the ACA resources, but I think that can be deleted as the old version talked about medical forms, etc. and the waiver must refer to non-medical religious camps which is no longer the topic of this standard
TR-7 the 2nd bullet point refers to seat belts, but in the "CE" it makes reference to booster seats for smaller children. Shouldn't that reference be also included in the standard itself as part of bullet point 2 since we only score the standard, not the "CE"
