FPDCC Awards Multi-Camp Project to Domokur Architects
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Illinois has selected Domokur Architects to implement a new $22.6 million Camp Program. This initiative will develop and improve opportunities for camping at five locations in the greater Chicago area. The scope of work includes renovation and construction of boat houses, bunkhouses, and the landmark Camp Sullivan Barn. The project also includes landscape improvements such as hiking trails, canoe landings, and tent sites, as well as utilities and infrastructure to serve the camps. The new amenities will be open for public use by June 2015.
The 68,000 acre Forest Preserve District of Cook County is the largest forest preserve district in the United States. With a mission to preserve and protect natural open space, the District provides many opportunities for outdoor recreation and environmental education, including the protection of several rare habitats.
Domokur Architects is honored to have been selected for this project. Our staff and team of subconsultants are excited about the opportunity to work with the District to expand their role as a leader and innovator in conservation education and outdoor recreation.
