Stay in Touch With Campers All Year
10 |
Send holiday greetings via e-mail or mail at Halloween,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, Easter,
or special camp days like First Day To Register or 100 Days Until
Camp Starts. |
9 |
Create an online message board on your Web site or using a service
like BoardServer or BoardHost. Encourage campers to discuss their
camp experiences. |
8 |
Call your campers and their families during the year to check
in and see how they are doing. Campers love to hear from directors
or seasonal staff that are still at camp. |
7 |
Send newsletters to current and former campers. Campers want
to hear what is happening at camp in the off season, how their
favorite horse is doing, and what projects are underway for the
next summer. |
6 |
Scan newspapers and newsletters for current and former campers
who are “in the news.” Clip a copy, and send to the
camper with a congratulatory note. |
5 |
Donate items or camp-weeks to fundraisers for schools, churches,
and other organizations your campers and their families belong
to. |
4 |
Send a camp-related gift during the winter, such as cabin photos,
ashes from the campfire, candles made during the summer, poems
or songs that are special to your camp, magnets, pens, and calendars. |
3 |
Invite campers and their families to participate in a work-weekend
at camp in the spring to help spruce up camp (and build excitement)
for the next summer. |
2 |
Send personalized, handwritten birthday cards or postcards.
Have counselors complete birthday cards for each camper during
the summer and hold them until the correct month and then mail
to the campers. |
1 |
Host reunions at your camp or at a location central to an area
where you draw a lot of campers. Campers reminisce about summer,
bring new friends to introduce to your camp, and start planning
for 2007! |
