Camp Beausite, Northwest

Camp Beausite Northwest distinguishes itself with innovative and adaptive programs that serve campers from 9 to 99 with special needs by accommodating for wheelchair access, limited mobility, intellectual and developmental delays and social/emotional challenges.  

Criteria: Creative and imaginative planning, programming and implementation. Relevance to the needs of the camper (and staff). Involvement of campers (and staff) in planning and implementation. Potential for replication and adaptability. Cooperative efforts with other organizations, agencies, or camps. Frank and Lucile Henderson Award

Denise Thomson

Since first being trained as a visitor in 1990, Denise has served in numerous volunteer positions with ACA throughout her career and into retirement including Standards Instructor, Standards Chair, Legislative Chair, Council of Delegates, and both section Vice President and President.

The Henderson Award is given to individuals in the recognition of exceptional service to camping and the Evergreen Field Office of the American Camp Association. The Award was established in 1972 to honor Frank and Lucille Henderson for their many years of dedication and service to the field of camping in this area. Criteria: Contributions to camping in the Evergreen area. Significant involvement in offices (local or national). Involvement in own agency or in camp. Length of ACA service.
