ACA's Associate Visitor course helps participants identify the purpose and structure of ACA's accreditation program. Participants also learn the steps of the process at the camp, local, and national levels. This course stresses the awareness and that the ACA standards represent accepted practices of organized camping. Participants: • Become familiar with the legal implications of visitor actions • Learn the importance of information and making compliance decision • Learn the importance of consistently applying the standards in a variety of situations Prerequisite: • At least twenty-one years of age • A current ACA member • Must have completed the Standards course • Submit an application endorsed by their local ACA office. • Complete an online pre-course (approx. 2 hours) prior to the in person course. No charge to the participant in this course. Lodging at YMCA Camp Colman the night of January 7th and meal starting with lunch on the 7th through lunch on the 8th.

The ACA's Standards course serves as an introduction to ACA's Standards Program and helps participants prepare for accreditation visits and for persons interested in becoming a Standards Visitor. The course describes the purpose and value of standards and accreditation, and gives an explanation of how the process works and what resources and materials are available. The course offers specific discussion about the requirements of the standards, including: application of the core and specialized activity standards, mandatory standards, and written documentation requirements. Standards Course attendance is required of a camp director/administrator of any camp seeking accreditation when: This is the first time the camp is to be visited; S/he is a new director of an already accredited camp; and there have been major changes in the accreditation program. The Museum of Flight has a café on site where lunch may be purchased or plan to bring your own.
