Alpengirl, Inc; A Girls-Only Summer Teen Trip & Travel Camp in MT, WA, HI, AK & Norway. An ACA-Accredited Camp® since 1998. This camp is not affiliated with a larger organization, it is a for-profit business independently owned and operated by Camp Founder/Director, Alissa Farley. Alissa Farley has served on the ACA, Evergreen Board of Directors for 3 years.

Q: Why did you first join ACA, Evergreen?

A: I ran my first Alpengirl trip with a Toyota mini-van and 5 campers. At that time, Alpengirl was a small independent sole-proprietorship with a computer, a brochure, forest service permits, camp liability insurance and a BIG dream of what Alpengirl could be. It was important to me from the very beginning to offer the highest degree of camp professionalism and camp safety even to a very small numbers of kids. I was familiar with the ACA accreditation process from a previous camp I had worked at, one that I helped to get ACA accredited. From this experience, I knew that when I went out on my own, ACA accreditation would be a key to my camps success that fits with my personal belief in the importance of going the extra mile to do what is best for campers, camp staff, camp parents and the kids summer camp industry. I went through the accreditation process right away with Alpengirl because first and foremost, I wanted to get my camp found and when I was found, I wanted my camp recognized as offering the best in what camp for kids and parents can be.

Q: What keeps you with ACA, Evergreen?

A: Today Alpengirl is incorporated and larger with about 100 campers per summer and is still independent without the benefit of a larger organization such as Girl Scouts or YMCA. So, ACA membership provides me with a professional affiliation and a connection to the larger camp community. I use ACA services on a regular basis. I use free and paid-for formatted camp templates that make my work more efficient and in-line with industry standards and state laws. I use the Camp Crisis Hotline during the summer camp season and ask for help thinking through camp related issues in stressful times. Camp kids and camp parents find out about Alpengirl through the ACA Find a Camp search directory.  But, perhaps the #1 reason why I stay with ACA is because of professional backing - ACA sets the standards in the camp industry.
