The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program gives small monetary grants to schools, nature centers, or other non-profit educational organizations for the purpose of establishing outdoor learning centers. The Ability Experience is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves people with disabilities as the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in its members and enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. The Build America Team spends six weeks traveling across the country stopping for a week at a time to build and renovate summer camps that serve people with disabilities by providing grants to cover the cost of the building projects and providing volunteer labor.

The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) provides grants to states and local governments (and to certain private nonprofit organizations) to implement long-term hazard mitigation measures after a major disaster declaration. The purpose of the HMGP is to reduce the loss of life and property due to natural disasters and to enable mitigation measures to be implemented during the immediate recovery from a disaster.
