Strategic Goals

  • There will be a greater understanding of and support for the value of the camp experience for camps served by the ACA IL Section. The number of children, youth, and adults of all social, cultural, economic, and ability levels who have a camp experience will increase. The ACA IL Section will be widely recognized as a valuable resource in youth development, and camps served by the Section will have a growing and diverse camper population.
  • The ACA IL Section will continue to build on the partnerships we are already forming with allied youth servicing agencies and organizations. We will strengthen and expand our relationships with park districts, schools, social service agencies, health providers, the court system, child advocate groups, parent groups, and others.
  • Strengthen educational opportunities and services for our members, including:
    - Educational opportunities (alone or with other sections)
    - Young professionals (leadership development)
    - Standards program
  • Reach out as a resource to non-member camping programs.
    - Non-profit day and resident camps
    - For-profit day and resident camps
    - Park districts
    - Title XX camps
  • Increase the number of summer camp scholarships for at-risk youth, specifically the Russell W. Hogrefe Fresh Start Fund
  • Build new relationships with allies in the field of youth development, including:
    - Colleges and universities
    - Public and private schools
    - Parent organizations
    - Social service agencies
    - Court system
    - Health care organizations
    - Religious communities
