Educating children in ways to preserve America’s
wild lands while enjoying the benefits of the
camp experience is the primary goal of the American
Camp Association’s (ACA) partnership with
the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
Leave No Trace promotes and inspires responsible
outdoor recreation through education, research,
and partnerships and augments ACA’s Outdoor
Living Skills (OLS) program that teaches young
people how to live in the outdoors.
The Leave No Trace concepts include pack it in,
pack it out, respect wildlife, and share the trails.
This is a valuable educational opportunity for
children attending ACA-accredited camps, but the
lessons are relevant long after camp children
return home. ACA and the Leave No Trace Center
provide children with training to help them protect
the environment while they are hiking, bicycling,
camping, boating, horseback riding and enjoying
all forms of outdoor recreation. For more information
about the Leave No Trace program and specific
programs available for your camp, please visit

Leave No Trace at 800-332-4100, ext. 104.
