How can I work at a U.S. camp?

What is the difference between an immigrant visa and a nonimmigrant visa?

An immigrant visa is the visa issued to persons wishing to live permanently in the United States. A nonimmigrant visa is the visa issued to persons with permanent residence outside the U.S. but who wish to be in the U.S. on a temporary basis, for example, tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work, or study.  A J1 visa is one type of a nonimmigrant visa.

What is a J1 visa?

The Immigration and Nationality Act provides a nonimmigrant visa category for persons to participate in exchange visitor programs in the United States. The "J" visa is for educational and cultural exchange programs designated by the U.S. Department of State, Exchange Visitor Program and Designation Staff.  For details on visas, visit  the Immigration and Naturalization Service's Web site or go directly to the INS's Visitor Exchange area.
