Do you want to reduce your camp's environmental impact, educate your visitors about the value of sustainable systems, and save money through reduced consumption?  Green Camps Initiative (GCI) and the American Camp Association have formed an educational alliance to provide the camp community with a wide range of sustainability resources.

Environmental — Reduce the camp community's ecological footprint.

Social — Educate visitors about the value of sustainable systems.

Economical — Save money by reducing the use and reliance on resources such as water and energy.

“No single mold of sustainability will fit the diverse needs of the camp community.  Instead, camps can use the resources and support of GCI to implement systems that work for their unique program.”

The Green Camps Initiative was born In 2011 when, at an ACA-sponsored educational conference, Danny Sudman, the founder of GCI presented the Green Camps Resource, a guide to implementing sustainable initiatives at camp facilities.  The response from the camp community was overwhelmingly positive and thus began the development of the Green Camps Initiative.

The Green Camps Website connects camps with the resources and tools to pursue a green camps accreditation.  The self-paced accreditation process supports the diverse population of the camp community to apply sustainable systems that fit within the unique needs of their facility and program
