Certificates of Added Qualification (CAQ)

ACA’s Certificates of Added Qualification (CAQs) are more than just online courses! Earn certificates through extended learning courses focused on ACAs thirteen core competencies; curriculum components include in-person, online, and self-study learning modes.

ACA’s CAQs are designed for individuals from varied audiences interested in expanding their knowledge and skills related to particular roles in camp or related youth development work. CAQs are considered foundational for the varied audiences addressed since all thirteen core competencies are addressed within the course. Individuals complete the competency-based requirements and electives for one or more certificates, as warranted by their professional needs, time, and interests.

Candidates for each CAQ complete the curriculum components by completing all in-person, online, and self-study learning modes. Requirements vary by certificate. Some certificates include a recertification process to ensure the professional is staying updated on emerging issues and practices.

A certificate is awarded upon the successful completion of requirements and electives. Continuing education credits (CECs) are awarded for participation and completion of educational activities as part of the requirements and electives. ACA maintains an educational history for all educational and professional development activities of current members that can be reported as a transcript.
