The BSA Kindred meeting is a gathering of anyone interested in learning more about the Boy Scouts of America and our outdoor programs. This tour of Louisiana youth programs, camps, and local attractions is open to everyone and will include, in addition to sightseeing, facilitated discussions of camp and youth programs in the US and around the world. Special activities and meals are planned to represent local culture and foods. The tour will be based at the La Quinta Inn – New Orleans Airport, Kenner, LA. Contact Linda Pulliam email@example.com  to make hotel reservations at the special rate of $76.50 per night plus tax, which includes breakfast. Deadline for this rate is January 5, 2015. The group will meet each morning at the La QUinta Inn for transportation to the scheduled sites, returning to the hotel each evening. The tour registration fee of $165 includes transportation, admission fees, snacks, and four meals. Itinerary will be posted in the late fall. On Feb. 3, participants will be transported to the Hilton New Orleans Riverside for the ACA Conference.

Calling all new camp directors and leadership staff! New Director Orientation (NDO) is your chance to learn from seasoned camp directors on key aspects of your job.
NDO is a special eight-hour course for seasonal or new camps directors, assistant directors, program directors,or persons that have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing summer camp. The NDO course helps directors and supervisors develop the skills they need to be effective leaders for their camp program. Key topics such as supervision of staff, risk management, and staff training ideas will help prepare new directors for their role this summer!
There will be a one hour break for participants to go to lunch (lunch is not included).

An update will be given about Phase 1 of the ACA Youth Outcomes norming project (by Jim Sibthorp, Troy Bennett, and Deb Bialeschki) conducted during Summer 2014. At their 2014 NFP Council lunch/meeting , the NFP Council agreed to support this project which will create national comparison benchmarks (norms) for the detailed version of the ACA Youth Outcomes Battery (YOB). The update will provide on an overview of process to date (data collection, etc.). The research team will also provide details for the second phase of this project (scheduled for summer 2015) and why this project is important for all camps.
