Join Camp Directors from around the country for a relaxed, engaging, and energizing roundtable of topics and networking for Camps that serve Children and Adults with special medical needs or disabilities. This tour of Georgia youth programs, camps, and local attractions is open to everyone and will include, in addition to sightseeing, facilitated discussions of camp and youth programs in the US and around the world. Special activities and meals are planned to represent local culture and foods. JCC Day Camp Leadership Forum

On Monday February 8, join your fellow JCC Day Camp colleagues for a fun day of learning, sharing, networking, schmoozing, and getting to know each other before the National ACA Conference officially begins! New camp staff begin at 9:00am and veteran staff begin at 10am. We should wrap up by 6pm and will have a group dinner together to conclude.

The ACA New Director Orientation Course (NDO) is a special eight hour course (8 CECs) for seasonal or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors, or persons that have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing a camp. The NDO course helps directors and supervisors develop the skills they need to be effective leaders for their camp program. The course covers five critical areas: camp management leadership, risk management, camper behavior, staff training, and staff supervision.
There will be a break for participants to go to lunch (lunch is not included).

Enjoy lunch with others from the nonprofit camp “world” to discuss current issues, share successes, and learn more about the research being funded by the Not-for-Profit Council. Over the years, a variety of tools have been developed from this research that are of particular value to those camps needing to document outcomes for potential funders. The current research focuses on observation and an “easy to use tool” to help with this critical aspect of camp.

Join the community of ACA’s Religiously Affiliated Camps and author, speaker, consultant Michelle Cummings for networking and interactive learning. Over lunch, discover new ways to “walk your talk” and role model the behavior you want to see in others. Gather innovative activities to enhance your staff's ability to work together as a resilient team. After the meal we’ll have time to play, with faith based metaphors and outcome based initiative games to make the spiritual stuff stick. Create a mental shift in your staff and campers by focusing on outcomes from the get-go. Come prepared to participate, play, and mingle with other religious camp leaders!

YMCA day camp and resident camp staff are encouraged to attend the YMCA Kindred Meeting at ACA National Conference to learn about successes with Y Camping initiatives, share their own youth development program highlights and network with Y camping leaders from Ys across the nation. In addition to a variety of camping updates, we will hear from several local Ys that have achieved success with both day camp programs and unique resident camp programs. An active listening and sharing session will also offer you to share your current challenges or issues. Join the cause for Y camping!
