Indianapolis, IN ( June 23, 2011) — Late July Organic Snacks’ chief executive officer and co-founder, Nicole Bernard Dawes, announced Late July’s partnership with the American Camp Association (ACA) for its new line of Organic Multigrain Snack Chips on Thursday. A camp parent herself, Dawes has firsthand knowledge of the powerful benefits and developmental importantance of the camp experience in the life of a child. Late July’s goal is to bring the innocence, personal growth, and connection to nature found during a positive camp experience to children who would otherwise miss out.
ACA’s Send a Child to Camp scholarship fund is a program designed to provide financial assistance to families who want to provide their children with camp experiences, and who may not be able to do so without camp scholarship dollars. By donating 10 percent of profits from the new line of Organic Multigrain Snack Chips to ACA, Late July hopes to provide every child with the chance to explore in the woods, swim in the ocean, sit by a campfire under a starlit sky, and experience all the wholesome, organic experiences life offers — all those positive experiences that inspired the name “Late July.”
“I am so grateful for the positive impact camp has had on my family. After the unexpected death of my father two years ago, it was camp that helped my oldest son find the way back to his carefree, happy seven-year-old self. All children deserve the chance to experience the joy of childhood,” said Dawes.
“Camp is an experience every child deserves,” said Peg Smith, ACA’s chief executive officer. “There's nothing quite like watching a child’s face light up with the joy of discovering new friends, the pride of accomplishment, and the wonder that nature offers. We know that camp changes lives. We know that camp is critical to the education and development of the whole child. Through this partnership with Late July, ACA is one step closer to seeing every child participate in a positive, nurturing camp experience.”
