DIRECTOR OF CAMP SERVICES & OPERATIONS
The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an energetic, motivated, mission-driven leader to serve as Director of YMCA Camp Thunderbird. Camp Thunderbird is a full-service day camp set on 100 acres in Chesterfield County, and serving campers and families throughout the greater Richmond area. The Director will provide enthusiastic, strategic leadership to all camp operations; coach and develop staff; and provide association-wide leadership to Y-Guides programs. Specific duties include planning camp and Y-Guides programs at Camp Thunderbird; hiring, training and supervising staff; serving as association leader for Y-Guides program, working closely with Property Manager to maintain camp facilities and grounds; and building relationships with campers, families, volunteers, and community members. The Director will live year-round in a house on camp grounds. A four-year degree in a related field is preferred, and candidates must meet minimum Virginia DSS requirements for Child Care Directors. This position requires at least 5 years experience in a related field with 3 to 5 years in a supervisory role. Director of Programs
Chanco on the James, voted best summer camp in Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine, is accepting applications for the position of Director of Programs. The Director of Programs will assist in facilitating the year round program, ministry, and operation of Chanco on the James. S/he develops new retreat programs, provides world class Christian hospitality to all guests, and oversees the operation of the summer camp program all under the direction of the Executive Director. Responsibilities include customer service, “hands on” activity facilitation, planning, camper and staff supervision, as well as staff recruiting and hiring. The position offers a salary range of $28,000 - $30,000 and a generous benefits package. On-site housing is provided to assist in fulfillment of job duties and living at camp is required during the summer season. Desirable qualifications and experience for the Director of Programs include: Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree and/or equivalent experience, experience in program design and ministry, experience in a senior leadership role at a summer camp, certifications necessary to lead/teach in ropes course operation and aquatics/lifeguarding.

Summer Camp Director for 2015
Chanco on the James, voted best summer camp in Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine, is taking applications for the position of Summer Camp Director for the 2015 season. The Summer Camp Director leads a staff of 45 individuals whose primary responsibilities are to supervise campers and introduce children to the love of Jesus Christ through various camp activities. S/he oversees the operation of the summer camp program at Chanco on the James. On-site housing is provided to assist in fulfillment of job duties. Living at camp is required during the season. This seasonal position offers a salary range of $11,000 - $12,000. The term of employment is February 1 – August 15, 2015.
- Working knowledge and/or experience as Assistant Director, Program Director, or senior leadership role at a summer camp.
- Familiarity with ACA standards and accreditation process
