Skillful screening procedures, overseen by trained individuals, are an important element in the creation of a safe environment for children's programs and services. An applicant with inappropriate sexual motives carries various indicators and life patterns which help identify him/her as one who may not be appropriate for work with children or students.
Skillful screening training arms intake coordinators and interviewers with the information and tools to recognize high-risk responses on applications, reference forms, or during an interview.
The process is relatively simple, once learned, but very effective. It's designed for individuals involved in the hiring or screening process, but is valuable for ALL individuals working in children's programs. Because employees relocate periodically, it is important to equip more than one person per organization or entity with this training.
