Summertime is a great time to be in or on the water. Canoeing, kayaking, boating, and other on-water activities are fun for all, especially when participants are equipped with properly fitting safety gear, namely, a personal flotation device (PFD). A properly fitting PFD does more than just look good, it performs as designed, builds confidence of the wearer, and saves lives. Recently, BoatUS received 3,000 PFDs, courtesy of marine retailer West Marine, to distribute to groups, clubs, and organizations that educate and promote safety on the water.
While the supply lasts, BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water would like to give the owners/operators or waterfront director of any camp that is a member of the American Camp Association the opportunity to request up to a dozen of these plus-sized PFDs, simply by e-mailing Boatingsafety@boatus.com , with “Plus-Sized Life Jackets” in the subject line. Be sure to state the desired quantity. If a quantity greater than twelve (12) is desired, add that to the e-mail with a brief explanation about your intended use.
The PFDs are offered at no cost, but a nominal fee (not to exceed $25) will be charged to cover the shipping and handling costs and is payable by check. All life PFDs are U.S. Coast Guard-approved and have multiple buckles and strap adjustments and expand to 7XL. Don’t let your campers be sidelined because of a poorly-fitting PFD or because you don’t have one that fits. Send BoatUS Foundation an email today.
The BoatUS Foundation is a national nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that creates education and outreach campaigns, researches issues and products and helps boaters and other user groups learn specific actions they can take to be better and safer stewards of the environment while boating.
