Definitions
Education Sessions are the traditional style of learning at conferences. This is an opportunity for participants to learn from someone with experience in a particular area/topic with a prepared presentation/agenda in a classroom/lecture style format. While education sessions will be the most structured learning type offered at OctoberWest, presenters are encouraged to be creative, engaging and interactive in their approach.
Brainstorming Sessions use an experienced facilitator to guide a roundtable discussion focused on a specific topic. The goal is to help participants share resources, ideas and solutions for common, long-time problems at camp – using the collective brainpower of the people in the room. The facilitator should be knowledgeable in the area of focus, ready with ideas and resources to share while also prepared to open the conversation to participants, serving as a guide instead of the more traditional leader/lecturer as in an education session.
