OOSA's "Hitting the Ground Running" series is a collection of seven trainings designed to help new staff get off to a great start. Staff are encouraged to complete all seven trainings, but can also participate in individual trainings in the series. The series covers Building Community, Setting Rules and Expectations, Leading Activities, Managing a Group Outdoors, Field Trips 101, Handling Transitions between Activities, and Activity Planning. Each of OOSA's online trainings include fun, narrated, interactive presentation with quizzes, handouts and a discussion forum. Participants who successfully complete a training (with a passing score of 70% on the quizzes) are eligible to receive a certificate of completion. Trainings can be done at any time, from any computer with Internet access. Each Course equals 1 CEC.
