In this webinar, we will provide resources and best practices, answer your questions, and discuss the following topics: fire prevention, slip and fall prevention, bed bugs, and architectural design for abuse prevention.
- Josh Heimowitz is the Program Director for camps and Jewish Community Center programs for The Redwoods Group. Prior to joining Redwoods in 2011, Josh was the Executive Director for the YMCA of Honolulu, where he oversaw all operations and management for Camp H.R. Erdman branch. Josh has worked in various camp leadership positions for the YMCA since 1995. He holds a BS in Physical Education / Sports Management from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
- Wynne Whyman has over 25 years experience with camp and conference centers, including camp director, camp administrator, property director and ACA lead visitor. She wrote the educational book, Outdoor Site and Facility Management: Tools for Creating Memorable Places, which is available in ACA bookstore. She developed the software, Lodgepole® Property System, a maintenance software designed especially for camps, and recently began an educational blog, Management of Outdoor Facilities, at www.callippe.com/blog .
- Mike Askew joined the director team in 1998 as the Program Director at Camp Seafarer. He has served in various roles at Camp before transitioning to his current position in 2010. Mike grew up in Raleigh, N.C., and began his Camp career as a camper, counselor, and Assistant Sailing Master at both Camp Seafarer and Camp Sea Gull. Mike received his B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he met his wife of 25 years, Ristie. Together they have two children. Previously, Mike served as Sports and Fitness Director at the A.E. Finley YMCA in Raleigh, N.C. During his limited amount of free time, Mike enjoys sailing, powerboating, fishing, all sorts of sports, and all things Disney. He is certified as a US Sailing Small Boat Level One Instructor, US Sailing Keelboat Instructor, US Powerboating Instructor & Instructor trainer, and holds a USCG Master Captain's license. You will see him at every Carolina basketball home game, where he serves as an Basketball Operations Supervisor at the Dean E. Smith Center. The Askews reside in Oriental and are members of the Arapahoe Freewill Baptist Church.
