The Effects of a Self-Management Asthma Education Program and a Physical Activity Asthma Program on the Self-Concept Level of 8-12 year old Children with Asthma

Purpose:
Determine the effect of attendance in camp programs designed for children with asthma on the participants self-concept levels.

Sample:

  • 10 subjects, male and female, ages 8-12, served as the control group.
  • 10 subjects, male and female, ages 8-12, were placed in the self-management asthma education program and given additional asthma education.
  • 9 subjects, male and female, ages 8-12, were place din the physical activity asthma program and were not given intervention of additional asthma education.

Methods/Instruments:
Pre-,post-test, Harter's Self-Perception Profile for Children.

Results:
No significant differences in pre- and post-test self-esteem scores between any of the three groups.
