Healthy Camp Study (2006-2010)
- The American Camp Association conducted a five year survelliance project funded by Markel Insurance to benchmark camp-related injury and illness in U.S. camps called the Healthy Camp Study. Over 200 day and resident camps were involved in this project- the most comprehensive study of camper and staff injury and illness ever conducted. The results of this study are summarized in the Healthy Camp Study Impact Report. (Promising practices for injury and illness prevention in camps are highlighted beginning on page 24.)

Healthy Camp Education and Monitoring Program (2011-2014)
The American Camp Association is currently implementing the Healthy Camp Education and Monitoring Program funded by Markel Insurance to explore the intersections of technology, camp health care, and professional development. New professional development opportunities for camp directors, camp health care providers, and staff will be developed and new resources will be made available to camps and other youth program providers through this project.
