ACA Southern California/Hawaii Campership Program
The American Camp Association (ACA), Southern California/Hawaii believes that the world would be a better place if everyone went to camp. In 2008 the Everyone Goes to Camp Campership Program was created to send low income children who reside in Southern California or Hawaii, and are between the ages of 5 to 17, to camp.
ACA raises funds from individuals, corporations and foundations each year and makes grants available to ACA accredited camps in Southern California and Hawaii. Spanning the last 4 summers ACA Southern California/Hawaii has partnered with day and resident camps to send more than 350 low income campers to camp.
In 2011 ACA Southern California/Hawaii partnered with 7 camps to serve 70 campsrs, including a homeless child! The average annual income for a family of 4.5 people receiving support throught the program was $25,800.
