American Canoe Association Level 1 Instructor Certification Course

Thank you for your interest in the American Canoe Association Level 1 Instructor Certification Course at Camp Carysbrook.  We look forward to working with you on the water June 7- 9.

As hosts, Camp Carysbrook is offering use of their facilities, including rustic cabin lodging, for the course. This cost is payable directly to Camp Carysbrook as a deposit for the course.

For anyone who wants to be safer and more effective on the water!  This is a course for those who can already maneuver their boat and have good control.

Kayak Instructor Certification Course Levels 1-2

This is a 4-year professional certification.  

Basic Standards Course - ACA, Southeastern

The ACA Standards Course is specifically designed to help prepare people who are NEW to the accreditation process for their accreditation visits, and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The camp may or may not be currently accredited. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

For 30 years, camp and retreat leaders from Virginia and beyond have gathered annually for professional growth, shared learning, excellent food, fellowship, fun and renewal. With scheduled time to share our individual questions and experiences, together we tackle our common challenges, changes and opportunities.

 

You have the option of participating in a Wednesday-Only full day of workshops and meals for only $40, OR come all three days ($99-$140-$180) for expanded learning experiences, evening programs and optional tours of other camps.

Associate Visitor Course - ACA, Virginia

The Associate Visitor Course provides training to individuals who wish to volunteer to conduct accreditation visits. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a visitor, including legal implications of visitor actions; develop information-gathering skills; and learn to use resources available to make consistent compliance decisions. Participants will also understand the educational value of the accreditation process and become positive representatives and advocates for ACA. There is no charge for this course.
