Associate Visitor Course - ACA, Virginias

The Associate Visitor Course provides training to individuals who wish to volunteer to conduct accreditation visits. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a visitor, including legal implications of visitor actions; develop information-gathering skills; and learn to use resources available to make consistent compliance decisions. Participants will also understand the educational value of the accreditation process and become positive representatives and advocates for ACA. There is no charge for this course.

Virginia Camp & Retreat Leaders' Gathering

FOR 30 YEARS, camp and retreat leaders from across Virginia have gathered annually at this event for professional growth, shared learning, excellent food, fellowship, fun and renewal. With scheduled time to share our questions and experiences, together we tackle our common challenges, changes and opportunities. You have the option of participating in a Wednesday-Only full day of workshops and meals for only $38, or come all three days ($95-$110-$125) for expanded learning experiences, evening programs, and optional tours of other camps.

ACA, Virginia Winter Conference 2016

The 2016 Virginias Winter Conference is held at the Fort MaGruder Hotel in Williamsburg Virginia on January 14th 2016. The Virginias Winter Conference provides over a dozen educational sessions to fit every professional need. The Virginias Winter Conference will give you the opportunity to connect with your peers to discuss the challenges and opportunities that you experience at your camp. Located in the beautiful and historic of Williamsburg, the Virginias Winter Conference is the premiere educational event in Virginia and West Virginia.

Basic Standards Course - ACA, Virginias

The ACA Standards Course is specifically designed to help prepare people who are NEW to the accreditation process for their accreditation visits, and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The camp may or may not be currently accredited. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

As an educational nonprofit association, the American Camp Association is dedicated to providing quality, reliable, and up-to-date information about the laws and regulations applicable to the camp community.  To that end, ACA partners with other organizations to advocate for quality camp experiences, and to increase the understanding of and support for the value of the camp experience for all children and families.  The ACA, Virginias Field Office monitors public policy issues impacting the camp community in Virginia and West Virginia.
