BSA Fishing Train the Trainer

This conference will be facilitated by the BSA National Fishing Task Force and will focus instruction on fly-fishing. In addition to the idea sharing and best practices you will learn from this conference, you will also be certified as a BSA Certified Angler Instructor (CAI) recognizing that you are qualified to teach the fishing related merit badges, plus you will be able to qualify others to become CAIs in your council.

Wilderness First Aid Instructor Certification

High adventure is a core feature of Scouting. Even more important is having that adventure in a safe manner. That’s why Wilderness First Aid is required for leaders involved in these programs. This conference will teach you those skills, including opportunities to practice scenarios in the Philmont backcountry AND even more importantly, will teach you to teach. This is an opportunity to become a qualified instructor capable of training others in your area in Wilderness First Aid. This is a great benefit to the Scouters in your council.

Climbing Director Certification

This is a National Camping School Climbing Directors course designed for those who will be leading and instructing climbing/rappelling programs. It has been developed to support council, district and unit volunteers in teaching safe climbing and rappelling techniques at natural sites or constructed facilities. This course includes initiative games, climbing, bouldering, rappelling, anchor systems, and a wide variety of ways to teach them. Participants will be divided into groups dependent on their skill level.

American Mountain Guide Single Pitch Instructor Course

Go West Camps in partnership with Ben Traxler from Southwest Climbing are hosting an AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) Single Pitch Instructor Course in Colorado Springs.

The course will be held May 16-18. The cost of the course is $500.

The package includes four nights and ten meals and all the certifications necessary to be a Camp Health Officer in Michigan.

Outdoor Leadership Training (OLT)

This May, Camp McCall is sponsoring Outdoor Leadership Training (OLT), a co-ed training event for people interested in outdoor training. & leadership Areas of training (tracks) include: Archery*, Backpacking, Basic Adventure Recreation, Challenge Course Facilitation, Climbing, Life Guarding*, Riflery* and Wilderness First Aid*. (*Include certification. All others receive a certificate of hours in training.) Course tuition includes lodging, meals and instruction from some of the best instructors around.
