Student Camp Leadership Academy

Emerging Directors Skills Lab

For Camp Directors 5 yrs or less experience + Assoc./Assist./Prog. Directors & Anyone interested in a camp career. Expands Perspective. Identifies Critical Issues. Integrates All Aspects of Directing a camp. Reduces Anxiety for new directors.  Topics: The Director’s Job, Target Population & Diversity, Mission, Participant Development & Behavior, Program Design & Activities, Human Resources, Risk Management, Business & Finance, Marketing, Health & Wellness, Site & Facilities, Food Service, & Transportation.

Associate Visitor Course - ACA, Illinois

The ACA Associate Visitor Course (11 CECs) provides training to individuals who wish to volunteer to conduct accreditation visits. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a visitor, including legal implications of visitor actions; develop information-gathering skills; and learn to use resources available to make consistent compliance decisions.

Participants will also understand the educational value of the accreditation process and become positive representatives and advocates for ACA. There is no charge for this course.

 

Standards Update Course - ACA, Illinois

The Standards Update Course (1.5 CECs) is designed for the camp director or staff member who has been actively involved in the preparation of materials and the on-site visit at an ACA-accredited camp in the recent past. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

 

Basic Standards Course - ACA, Illinois

The ACA Basic Standards Course (5 CECs) is specifically designed to help prepare people who are NEW to the accreditation process for their accreditation visits, and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The camp may or may not be currently accredited.
