ACA, Accreditation Process Workshop – In-Person

This course is designed to provide an overview of the ACA Accreditation Process.

Every camp being visited in 2023 must have at least one person who completes this course on behalf of the camp; that person must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit, be engaged in on-site operations during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit. All camps are strongly encouraged to complete this course by April 1. For camps new to accreditation to receive an accreditation visit in 2023, this course must be completed no later than April 1, 2023.

*Multiple people from a camp are encouraged to take this course.

Objectives:

Participants feel excited, engaged, and ready to manage the accreditation process for their camp. They know where to find and how to use information, resources, and technology provided by ACA. They can navigate the Accreditation Process Guide v.2019 to understand compliance and applicability of standards, including how to maintain accreditation through the visit and non-visit years and the purpose and steps of preparing written documentation.

Audience:

This course is designed for camp leaders preparing for accreditation visits in the upcoming season or who are new to the accreditation process. The course is also appropriate for those considering seeking accreditation for the first time.

Accreditation Process Guide, 2019 Edition (updated 11/2019):

To participate, you MUST have an Accreditation Process Guide (APG) v. 2019 (updated 11/2019).

Published: Each currently accredited camp and camp seeking accreditation is provided 1 published copy of the APG. If you need this, please contact your accreditation staff.

Digital: A digital version of the APG is provided to all current fee-paying camps for each primary and standard contact. This is in the Accreditation Portal. If you need assistance with access, please contact your accreditation staff.

Purchase: Non-fee-paying camps (new to accreditation and have not paid yet) and camps wanting additional printed copies can purchase these through the bookstore.

There will be loaner APGs available for use during the course.
