Tony Oyenarte elected Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of the American Camp Association

MARTINSVILLE, IN: The American Camp Association Board of Directors has elected long-time camp director from Gainesville, Florida, Tony Oyenarte as Vice Chair.

Oyenarte began his career in education as a high school science and math teacher. He used his passion for youth development and the relationship between children and the outdoors to launch and sustain his twenty-year career in camp. He was the director of Camp Crystal Lake for sixteen summers, and currently is director of Camp Lochearn for Girls in Vermont.

Oyenarte volunteers with Kids in the Woods, a program in Gainesville, Florida that connects children with the outdoors. He also gives his time to Hands to Love, a charitable organization that helps children born with congenital limb differences.

Oyenarte has been involved with ACA prior to serving on the Board as a leader in the Southeast local office and a member of ACA transition committee.

Oyenarte is married and the proud father of two children.
