The Association of Camp Nurses’ (ACN) Symposium provides cutting edge sessions that explore camp health and nursing practice. Network with other camp nurses; meet camp nurse leaders, shop at the Camp Nurse Store, and leave with an expanded knowledge base. Application for contact hours has been submitted; approval pending.

The BSA Kindred meeting is a gathering of anyone interested in updates about the Boy Scouts of America’s outdoor programs. Agenda includes: 1) BSA National Camp Accreditation Program, 2) latest and future launch of outdoor merit badges and programs, 3) special programs related to outdoor issues, 4) youth protection in camp training, 5) ScoutStrong initiative in the field of physical fitness and nutrition, 6) update on revision of Boy Scout Fieldbook, and 7) share information about partnerships to broaden collaboration in the outdoor industry.

Join your Girl Scout colleagues for an interactive session in which we will work collaboratively to design materials (i.e.: staff training materials, camp program plans, etc.) that will help our colleagues across the movement implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in outdoor experiences while leveraging those experiences to grow membership.

This tour of Florida camps and local attractions is open to everyone and will include, in addition to sightseeing, facilitated discussions of camp and youth programs in the US and around the world and a get-acquainted kickoff with Jim Cain. Special activities and meals are planned to represent local culture and foods. Participants will be transported by van or bus to camps and sites of interest in the Orlando area from the Wingate by Wyndham Airport Hotel on Monday and Tuesday and, on Wednesday, to the Hilton Orlando for the ACA Conference.

Enjoy lunch with others (mainly) from the nonprofit camp “world” to discuss current issues, share successes, and learn more about research that has been funded by the Not-For-Profit Council. Over the years, a variety of tools have been developed from this research that are of particular value that are of camps needing to document outcomes for potential funders. Hear about the recently developed “easy to use” youth outcomes reporting tools that documents observations by staff (and potentially parents) as well as the web-based analysis tool for the outcome measures. .

Religously Affiliate Camps (RAC) Pre-Conference Event

Join your colleagues from other ACA Religiously Affiliated Camps for sharing of our faith traditions, program roundtable, campfire fellowship, and more. Our hosts at Seventh-Day Adventist-affiliated Pine Lake Retreat have prepared an inclusive, budget-friendly overnight retreat for us, including lodging and 3 vegetarian (kosher and halal-friendly) meals. Gathering session is Tuesday, February 4 at 4:00 pm (please plan flights to arrive by 2:00 if possible). Departures with a box lunch on Wednesday, February 5, 12:00 noon.

Special Needs Kindred Meeting

The Special Needs Kindred meeting will be held February 2-5 at Camp Boggy Creek. We will cover program trends, best practices, and societal issues within the Special Needs Camping Community. A detailed program is currently being created by a committee and will be available later this year. There is a $50 Conference Fee that will be collected onsite. Check begins at 4:00 pm on February 2nd and full programming will begin the morning of the 3rd. We will conclude in time to be in Orlando for the start of the ACA National Conference.
