Mark your calendar and plan to attend the Conference Orientation on Friday November 13, 2020 at 9:30am MT.  We will cover meeting norms, conference highlights and engagement features of Zoom.  Logging into the orientation is a great way to verify that you will be able to login into conference sessions.  We will also give you information about joining sessions and reviewing recorded sessions.

Download Zoom and/or check you have the current Zoom update

On Monday, Septmber 21, Zoom released version 5.3 If you already have the Zoom client software installed (recommended), right-click on the Zoom icon (by the clock in the bottom right corner) and click Check for Updates to update.

  • IMHO, the most interesting new feature is Self-Select Breakout Rooms.
  • The host can now create breakout rooms with the option for participants to self-select which breakout room they would like to join. If enabled, participants can move freely between breakout rooms without the host's help. Both the meeting host and participants need to be on Client 5.3.0 or later to self-select Breakout Rooms.
  • Here is a good article describing the details about self-select breakout rooms

Meeting norms:  To get the most out of the conference you need to get involved.  As they say, you will get out of the experience what you put into it.  It is easy to get distracted during online trainings and meetings.  That is why we are working with presenters to make the content as engaging and interactive as possible.  Please be prepared to share your thoughts and questions in chat, participate actively in breakout rooms, be prepared to respond to questions verbally or with emojis.  Please keep your camera on and mic ready, especially in breakout groups.

Bear with us if there are glitches.  Just like camp, if something can go wrong, it will.  We appreciate your patience and will work quickly to solve any challenges.

Help Desk:  If you need assistance during the event go to the help desk.  There will be a link to a “Help Desk/VIP Lounge” at the top of your schedule of sessions.

VIP Lounge: If you want to have a conversation with another conference participant click on “Help Desk/VIP Lounge” at the top of your schedule and we can give you a breakout room for your conversation.
