This is a year-round position for a co-ed summer sleep away camp for children ages 8-12, including those with special needs & adults with disabilities, who attend for a week, run by the New York District Kiwanis Foundation. The executive director is responsible for overall management of the program including personnel, program development & health and safety in accordance with the NYS Department of Health. The Executive Director should have experience working with children of all ages including individuals with special needs. The candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching & sharing an appreciation for nature along with programming for diverse populations. The candidate should have at least 2 years of experience as a camp director & be certified in responding to emergencies first aid & CPR for the professional rescuer. The ideal candidate will have a college degree in recreation or a related field. In addition, they should have a current driver’s license with a clean driving record & a valid passport. At The Outdoor School (TOS) students are able to experience their natural environment in a fun and educational setting.
