ACA, Illinois: How to Maintain Morale and Energize Teams for Day Camps

Tuesday, 30 March 2021 -
1:00pm to 2:30pm

All times local unless stated differently below.

In a “typical” season, it takes a lot of effort to keep them engaged, happy, and excited to come to camp each day. And by “them,” of course, I’m talking about your…staff. Day Camp staff have lots of things competing for their attention, and their day job is only one of those things.

So what can we do to make it the thing that they are most excited about?

That’s how we get them back each day at their best, and how we get them to make the camp experience amazing for the campers.

Summer of 2021 will present even more challenges for energizing our teams and maintaining staff morale, since responding to the collective trauma COVID-19 has wrought means that staff will be starting out the summer with already-elevated levels of stress and anxiety. While we implement strategies to keep our camp communities physically healthy and safe, we will also need to be creative, intentional and vigilant about keeping our staff emotionally healthy, upbeat and engaged.

Join Emily Golinsky to dig into a little bit of the science behind boosting staff morale, as well as best practices and COVID-aware ideas you can implement at your day camp so your campers and staff can have the epic summer they (and you!) deserve.
