S.P.O.T. Fire (Strategic Preparedness Online Training)
By: Washington State University Extension
The 2018 Wildland Fire Season will soon be upon us in Washington and across the Pacific Northwest. We remember last year’s wildland fires negative impacts on communities across the Region. Through experience, we know that preparedness saves lives, can reduce property losses, and keeps communities thriving. There are more than 400 Youth Camps in Washington State alone. Camps contribute to rural economic vitality and link urban centers with rural communities. Camps also house thousands of youth in fire adapted communities during the wildland fire seasons. Strategically preparing “camps” for wildland fire is a multipronged process, and must include planning for before, during and after fires. Please join us for an informative webinar on preparing camps for wildfires 2018. The fast paced program will involve local and state fire agency representatives, Camp Professionals and Economic Development Specialists focused on keeping kids at camp safe. Simple and effective steps camps can do right now, will be shared in the presentation. The program is sponsored by Washington State University Extension in partnership with American Camp Association, Washington DNR, South Pend Oreille Fire Department, and others.
This webinar will be limited to the first 100 registrants. Registering will provide the access and information for the webinar.
