Staff Training Workshop

Wednesday, 22 January 2020 -
1:00pm to 4:00pm

All times local unless stated differently below.

This staff training workshop will allow participants to learn an organizational model for training that emphasizes providing camp staff with engaging experiences. Additionally, workshop participants will learn and create ways to ensure each staff member performs the necessary skills to work with children.

The objectives of this workshop are to share an approach to staff training that allows trainees to learn by doing at every possible opportunity. This workshop is not a lecture and we ask that participants come ready to engage in imaginative play, share ideas, listen to others’ feedback, and leave the room with something specific and workable.

The workshop will begin with a sample of theme camp training.

The group will generate areas of focus in their staff training based on their staff or camp’s needs.

The participants will apply a philosophy of experience, theory, and practice to staff training sessions.

The participants will create draft elements of a staff training outline for their own programs.

To get the most out of this workshop, the participants should bring a copy of their staff training schedule and be able to share some of the activities that they use to convey topics. We will spend time coming up with new versions throughout the workshop, however, coming with what has been used previously will be valuable to everyone.

Registration Fee: $30/Members - $60/Non-Members
