All times local unless stated differently below.

3:00pm-4:00pm Eastern Time

As our industry faces the unprecedented challenge of managing camp during the coronavirus pandemic, camp professionals are running into daily legal questions ranging from employment law issues to contractual matters. This session will provide a forum to present those questions to attorneys who represent camps and other youth organizations.

In addition to questions submitted by participants, the presenters will explore the following topics:

  • Does a camp have a legal obligation to provide refunds if families cancel or camp doesn't open?
  • What does the Families First Coronavirus Response Act mean for camps?
  • If camp does open, can we check our employees' temperatures and conduct medical screenings before employees begin working?
  • If camp opens at a much smaller size than expected, or if camp doesn't open at all, what are our obligations to seasonal staff members who we no longer need?
  • If camp doesn't open, are we obligated to pay vendors for services that we won't use?
