Gan Israel - Pickle & Camper Management

CGI Staff Training: Pickle & Camper Management (2 Hour)

This 2-hour training is full of practical "What to say" and "What to do" so you can come to camp prepared to give your bunk the best. Part 1) Introducing the Pickle: How to make waiting for the bus in 103 degrees the best part of camp. Part 2) CPR of behavioral management: Consistent, Prompt, Reasonable.  Participants will be able to:

  1. Introduce activities with words and body language that increase excitement and participation
  2. Execute activities with more engagement and camper involvement
  3. Say and do things that build positive relationships with campers
  4. Execute a successful first "bunk meeting" that ensures clear written rules, expectations, and reasonable consequences
  5. Enforce rules consistently, promptly, and reasonably
  6. Give directions in 6 ways, without telling campers what to do
  7. Use the "Broken Record" when campers don't listen the first time

Read this first before registering!

  1. Upon successful payment, you will receive an email confirmation with an email text to forward to your staff with the link to register for the courses. It will be below the payment receipt (automated Chabad.org message).
  2. If a staff member can't make any of the sessions, He/she must register before the course to receive a recording and a test. Recordings will only be sent to staff who register for a session BEFORE the session takes place. (Don't give this as an option from the start, the course is much more effective when staff are involved live!)
  3. Staff members will need to register with their director's name and email.  Upon completing the test, the score and a certificate of completion will be emailed to the staff member and the camp director.
  4. Due to the number of courses/dates, it is difficult for me to run a report of who registered for what (before the course). Ask your staff to forward you the REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION they receive to prove to you they are registered.
  5. The success of the training lies in its implementation in camp. Directors are invited and encouraged to attend (at no charge) all staff sessions as well.
  6. I love feedback. Please let me know how the staff enjoyed, was it practical, is there something else you'd like to see in a future training...
