Connecting Camp Programs to the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards

In the wake of the development and widespread adoption of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), over the next decade standards-based education will be undergoing substantial changes. The instructional changes that will come with this shifting landscape represent a major opportunity for camps to connect their work with these new sets of academic content standards. As more and more states adopt and implement the CCSS and NGSS, the environment will begin to play a much greater role in education, which provides camps with an opportunity to build strong working relationships with schools.  This webinar will provide practical tips for camps. By the end of this webinar, participants will:

  • understand the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards;
  • recognize strategies for using camp programs in ways that K-12 educators will view as supportive of their work in standards-based education; and
  • identify ways that environment-based education programs can benefit students and teachers in K-12 schools
