ACA, Chesapeake Camp Conference 2018

The Chesapeake Camp Conference will feature a keynote presentation and educational sessions with consultant and industry thought leader Loida Noriega Wilson. We will have a full day of educational and networking opportunities and tour beautiful Camp Puh’tok. Come connect with other camp professionals, share lessons learned from this summer and kick off planning for the following summer. Sessions will be offered on a wide range of topics including business development, program/process improvement and staff management.

ACA, Chesapeake Safe Talk Training

ACA, Chesapeake will host a combined networking and professional development event with a focus on suicide prevention for campers and staff. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will provide a safeTALK training, facilitate a conversation about “13 Reasons Why” and its impact on youth serving organizations and provide specific tools for working with youth including the Blue Whale Game. We will also enjoy networking over the provided lunch and morning refreshments.

Basic Standards Course - ACA, Chesapeake

The ACA Standards Course is specifically designed to help prepare people who are NEW to the accreditation process for their accreditation visits, and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The camp may or may not be currently accredited. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

Standards Update Course - ACA, Chesapeake

The Standards Update Course is designed for the camp director or staff member who has been actively involved in the preparation of materials and the on-site visit at an ACA-accredited camp in the recent past. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

Associate Visitor Course - ACA, Chesapeake

The Associate Visitor Course provides training to individuals who wish to volunteer to conduct accreditation visits. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a visitor, including legal implications of visitor actions; develop information-gathering skills; and learn to use resources available to make consistent compliance decisions. Participants will also understand the educational value of the accreditation process and become positive representatives and advocates for ACA. There is no charge for this course.
