The WNC EPIC Winter Retreat is an opportunity to really DIG IN to your development as a camp professional. In this 3-day, 2-night retreat, we will explore the personal and professional competencies needed to be a good leader and learn how to develop them in ourselves. This will be a journey into authenticity and personal growth.  We will develop concrete plans of how to pass along what we learn to our teams and staff members back at camp. Kim Aycock is the featured speaker and will be presenting an opening as well as two breakout sessions. Kim’s opening, “A Training Smorgasbord: A Buffet of Ideas to Engage Your Staff in the Learning Process” is sure to set the stage for a great day of education and networking.

Associate Visitor Course - ACA, Indiana

The ACA Associate Visitor Course provides training to individuals who wish to volunteer to conduct accreditation visits. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a visitor, including legal implications of visitor actions; develop information-gathering skills; and learn to use resources available to make consistent compliance decisions. Participants will also understand the educational value of the accreditation process and become positive representatives and advocates for ACA. There is no charge for this course.

Join us at Camp Merrie-Woode for a weekend of professional development and fun that only EPIC can pull off. Including hikes, grilling out, camp tour, games and more! Featuring Travis Allison from CampHacker, GoCamp.pro and Summer Camp Professionals. The EPIC retreat offers in depth discussion of the camp industry’s most pressing topics in a relaxed and supportive environment.


Registration includes: 2 Breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners; modern comfortable, but not luxurious lodge, with beds and bunk beds. Lodging for 12/8/16 and 12/9/16, departing on 12/10/16.

Standards Update Course - ACA, Heart of the South and PCCCA/OMA Annual Conference

The Standards Update Course is designed for the camp director or staff member who has been actively involved in the preparation of materials and the on-site visit at an ACA-accredited camp in the recent past. A person completing the ACA Standards Course on behalf of a camp is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

ACA, Heart of the South Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health First Aid is an in-person training that teaches you how to help people developing a mental illness or in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach individuals how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
