Basic Standards Course - ACA, Indiana

The ACA Basic Standards Course prepares people who are NEW to the accreditation process for their accreditation visits, and serves as an introduction to the accreditation process for people interested in becoming accreditation visitors. A person completing the course on behalf of a camp must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit.

How to INCLUDE your staff on Inclusion Camping

Lisa Elder, Director of Recreation Therapy at Bradford Woods
isa will discuss techniques to train your staff on inclusion camping that will meet the needs of ALL of your campers. These training tools are not only for camps who specifically work with campers with disabilities, but can be used to teach your staff how to show empathy towards ALL of their campers.

Lodging

Group lodging is available at Bradford woods the night of December 12, 2017.  Lodging will be in Ryan Cottage which has semi-private rooms (2-3 people per room with shared bath).  Participants need to provide their own linens and towels.  The cost is $30 per person.  A minimum of 6 individuals are needed for Bradford Woods to open Ryan Cottage for our group.

Keynote Speaker - ACA, Indiana Winter Gathering 2017

Gary ForsterBlame Hoosier Hospitality for Gary Forster's career in camping!  While getting his degree in Architecture from Kent State University, Gary worked 5 summers at the Indianapolis YMCA’s Flat Rock River Camp This was followed by serving as the summer program and facilities director at Camp Tecumseh.  Gary’s career then took him to Camp Jewell in Connecticut.

A variety of educational opportunities including breakout sessions, roundtable discussions, and tours of both Bradford Woods and the ACA administrative office will be offered.
