New Law Exempts Camps From Certain Commercial Transportation Regulations

The American Camp Association (ACA) is pleased to announce that today,  December 18, 2015, President Barak Obama signed the Omnibus federal spending bill — HR 2029 containing a change in law pertaining to interstate transportation.  The change specifically exempts camps from certain commercial regulations when operating 9-15 passenger vans:

Developing procedures for maintaining vehicles, selecting drivers, handling emergencies and controlling on-site traffic as well as liability issues related to transportation.

Transportation Standards Resources

The camp’s transportation practices promote safety, minimize risk, and help administrators consider the critical aspects of traffic control, vehicular safety, driver qualifications and training, and camper education concerning vehicle safety. Login to view resources.
