2015 Keynotes

This Year, the Southeastern Camp Conference will host Ana Homayoun and Tom Holland as the opening keynote on October 5th and Dr. Kelly Gordon as the closing keynote on October 7th. 

Opening Keynote: October 5, 2015

Ana Homayoun is an author and speaker who focuses on teen and millennial issues related to overall wellness and personal purpose. Her engaging talk will highlight the ways we can create an inclusive, thriving camp community that encourages kids to develop skills that will help them shine year round. 


Closing Keynote: October 7, 2015

Dr. Kelly Carolyn Gordon (Ph.D. Theatre, University of Georgia; MA Directing, Emerson College; MS Leadership and Ethics, St. Edward's University; Certificate, Harvard University Management Development Program) is the Chair of Fine Arts and Director of Theatre at Concordia University Texas.  Her keynote address will focus on how theatre empowers youth, with special emphasis on theatre for social change and performing theatre in nature.  Gordon was a camper at Camp Miniwanca in Shelby, Michigan, and a camp counselor at Camp Merriwood in Orford, New Hampshire.

Opening Address: October 5, 2015

Join Tom Holland, the new Chief Executive Officer of the American Camp Association as he discusses the future of ACA, Inc and ACA, Southeastern. Tom has been essential to the recent transformation of ACA. Previously, Tom served as the Chief Foundation and Funds Development Officer and has served on the National Board of Directors for ACA. In addition to his role at ACA, Tom was the executive Director of an independent non-profit camp in Wyoming.

Are you an Emerging Professional in Camping (EPIC)? Join us for a EPIC pre conference session taking place on October 5th from 9am -2 pm with Tony Oyenarte.  This leadership session will be an interactive workshop focused  on multiple facets of camping.  Wether you are a leader in day camp, not- for – profit, private or resident camp program, you will walk away with new and innovative ideas that you can use in all aspects of your life.  Team building,  core values, and customer service will be woven into the different paths of running a successful camp program.

Tony is the Director of Camp Lochearn  for Girls beautiful Vermont. Tony is actively involved  with ACA as a National Board Member and is Past President of ACA SE.

ACA, Southeastern Conference is endorsed!


The Southeastern Conference has been endorsed by the American Camp Association.  Educational Endorsement means that the program has been reviewed by a qualified panel to verify the goals, learner outcomes, presenter qualifications, and evaluation   requirements are relevant for this educational program. Participants may earn up to 6 continuing education credits (CECs) for this endorsed program. Participants completing this program and requesting CECs must petition the appropriate certifying body regarding acceptance of these CECs.


Cancellation and Policy Information

Cancellations: Cancellations received at least 2 weeks prior to the event are eligible for a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations received less than 2 weeks before event will not be refunded. No-shows are not refundable. A written cancellation request is required and can be faxed or emailed to (765) 342-2065 fax or Phone cancellations are not accepted. If ACA cancels the event for which you have registered, the registration fee paid will be fully refunded. ACA is not responsible for any expenses incurred by you as a result of your registration, whether the event is attended, postponed, or cancelled. All registration payments must be made by the event date in order for participants to be admitted to the event.
