2015 Keynotes

This Year, the Southeastern Camp Conference will host Ana Homayoun as the opening keynote on October 5th and Dr. Kelly Gordon as the closing keynote on October 7th. 

Opening Keynote

Ana Homayoun is an author and speaker who focuses on teen and millennial issues related to overall wellness and personal purpose. Her engaging talk will highlight the ways we can create an inclusive, thriving camp community that encourages kids to develop skills that will help them shine year round. 

 

Closing Keynote

Dr. Kelly Carolyn Gordon (Ph.D. Theatre, University of Georgia; MA Directing, Emerson College; MS Leadership and Ethics, St. Edward's University; Certificate, Harvard University Management Development Program) is the Chair of Fine Arts and Director of Theatre at Concordia University Texas.  Her keynote address will focus on how theatre empowers youth, with special emphasis on theatre for social change and performing theatre in nature.  Gordon was a camper at Camp Miniwanca in Shelby, Michigan, and a camp counselor at Camp Merriwood in Orford, New Hampshire.

    Volunteer Opportunities Available!!

    Are you interested in volunteering for the conference?  Check out the different ways you can help! 

    To volunteer, or if you have questions, please email Bethany Frazier at bethany.frazier@kanuga.org.

    Hospitality Table (Monday – Wednesday)

    • Help answer any questions participants might have about schedule, restaurants, area etc.
    • Hand out local restaurants and other local promotional brochures
    • Help with onsite volunteers signup sheet

     

    Greeter (Monday – Wednesday)

    • Greet guests as they arrive to venue
    • Inform participants looking for registration
    • Stationed in between sessions to help attendees find their next session
    • Be a kind and friendly face to welcome our friends! (Exhibitors, Participants etc.)

     

    Exhibit Hall Set Up (Monday)

    • Help Conference Exhibit Chair with assigned tasks
    • Help Exhibitor find their booth for load in

     

    Silent Auction Help (Monday & Tuesday)

    • Help Auction Chair with assigned tasks
    • Help gather and inventory items dropped off for both the Silent and Live Auction
    • Write up Silent Auction Tickets, Arrange items in packages, set display table
    • Help Monitor Auction

     

    Exhibit Hall Help (Monday Evening)

    • Help Conference Chair with assigned tasks
    • Help sell beads for the Heads of Tail Game

     

    Live Auction Help (Tuesday Evening)

    • Help Auction Chair with assigned tasks
    • Help move items from office to Live Auction location, room set up
    • During Live Auction help with writing tickets for bidders and winners
    • Help close out winner tickets towards the end of Auction
    • Help move/clean out items after auction back to the office

     

    Room Hosts (Monday – Wednesday)

    • Be present before session begins to help speaker set up/pass out materials
    • Introduce speaker
    • Hand out evaluations
    • Return evaluations after session is over
    • Help with any needs the speaker/session might need

     

    Cancellation and Policy Information

    Cancellations: Cancellations received at least 2 weeks prior to the event are eligible for a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations received less than 2 weeks before event will not be refunded. No-shows are not refundable. A written cancellation request is required and can be faxed or emailed to (765) 342-2065 fax or events@ACAcamps.org. Phone cancellations are not accepted. If ACA cancels the event for which you have registered, the registration fee paid will be fully refunded. ACA is not responsible for any expenses incurred by you as a result of your registration, whether the event is attended, postponed, or cancelled. All registration payments must be made by the event date in order for participants to be admitted to the event.
