Accreditation Process Workshop for 2023 Season-Online
Type of CourseAccreditation Trainings
This self-guided online course is designed to provide an overview of the ACA Accreditation Process. This page will guide you to the registration for the course, but it is not date-dependent.
Every camp being visited in 2023 must have at least one person complete this online course on behalf of the camp; that person must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit, be engaged in on-site operations during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit. In order for a camp to receive an accreditation visit in 2023, this course must be completed no later than March 31, 2023.
*Multiple people from a camp may take this course.
Participants feel excited, engaged, and ready to manage the accreditation process for their camp. They know where to find and how to use information, resources, and technology provided by ACA. They can navigate the Accreditation Process Guide v.2019 to understand compliance and applicability of standards, including how to maintain accreditation through visit and nonvisit years, and the purpose and steps of preparing written documentation.
This online course is designed for camp leadership who are preparing for accreditation visits in the upcoming season or are new to the accreditation process. The online course is also appropriate for those who are considering seeking accreditation for the first time.
*NOTE FOR NEW ASSOCIATE VISITOR APPLICANTS: Applicants to become ACA accreditation volunteers (new associate visitors) are required to complete a modified version of this online course that is built into the pre-course work assigned once you complete your application. You do not need to take this stand-alone APW course.
Accreditation Process Guide, 2019 Edition (updated 11/2019)
To participate in this course, you MUST have an Accreditation Process Guide (APG) v. 2019 (updated 11/2019).
- Published: Each currently accredited camp and camp seeking accreditation is provided 1 published copy of the APG. If you need this, please contact your local accreditation manager.
- Digital: A digital version of the APG is provided to all current fee-paying camps for each primary contact and standards contact. The digital version of the APG can be found in the Accreditation Portal. If you need assistance with access, please contact your local accreditation manager.
- Purchase: Non-fee-paying camps (new to accreditation and have not paid yet) and camps wanting additional printed copies can purchase these through the bookstore.
Accreditation Process Workshop Follow-Up Fridays
Asking questions is vital to your understanding and knowledge development around accreditation. An optional follow up session is provided several times monthly so you can have some (virtual) connection time with an accreditation instructor to ask questions, gain further insights, learn tips and tricks that will help your camp and more. This follow-up is strongly encouraged for camps and leadership who are new to the accreditation process.
Complete the self-guided online Accreditation Process Workshop BEFORE you register for a follow-up session. To register for a follow-up session, check out the ACA Events Calendar.
