Summer 2020 will be unlike any summer that has come before and likely any summer that comes after. For months, our kids’ worlds have shrunk down to four walls and a few faces. We know through our research that all kids need:

  • Access to nature and opportunities to disconnect from technology
  • Opportunities to try new things and take appropriate risks
  • A strong sense of belonging and community, with peers and near-peer role models, like camp counselors
  • Fun physical activity and reliable access to nutritious meals
  • Active learning that engages kids’ interests
  • Meaningful voice, choice, and decision-making
  • Interaction with people who come from places, backgrounds, and beliefs that are different from their own

In short, our kids need camp. But how can we be sure kids can safely have that experience?

When you support ACA, you help us to:

  • Help camps keep kids safe through stringent health, safety and risk management strategies, following the guidelines of national and local health officials.
  • Reach out to the most underserved kids by communicating the importance and safety of camp.
  • Explore opportunities to offer virtual camping experiences.

With your help, we will ensure camps are ready to best serve their camp community during this extraordinary year and for many more summers to come.
