The American Camp Association (ACA) honors and remembers Susan “Suz” Welch, a longtime active member of ACA, past president of the ACA National Board of Directors, and beloved member of the camp community, who passed away on November 6, 2025.

Suz was the director of Camp Fire Camp Hantesa and was active with Camp Fire National. She joined ACA in 1958 and served as the president of the ACA National Board of Directors (1995–1998), the ACA Foundation Board, and the National Field Service Committee. She was an accreditation visitor, legislative chair, vice president, and delegate to the Council of Delegates for ACA, Great Rivers. Suz received the National Honor Award in 1991, the Distinguished Service Award in 1998, and was a member of ACA’s Acorn Society.

Suz was 85 years old.
