The American Camp Association has embarked on an exciting new era of transformation, including:  

  • Adopting a refreshed mission, vision, and values  
  • Launching a new strategic plan 
  • Welcoming new board leadership 

Amidst these promising developments, accreditation remains at the core of ACA’s commitment to delivering high-quality education and camp experiences.  

To ensure accreditation continues to align with ACA’s mission and priorities, the board has empowered a task force to assess the program and explore opportunities to broaden its reach. The guiding principle is clear: fulfilling ACA’s mission requires engaging far more camps in accreditation. 

This work will not result in any changes to program delivery during the 2026 visit season. In parallel, the National Standards Commission is continuing its periodic review of ACA’s accreditation standards and processes. Together, these efforts reflect ACA’s dedication to strengthening accreditation as a vital pathway for camps to learn, grow, and best serve their communities.
