French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts is one of the largest and most comprehensive performing and visual arts training centers for children in the world. Located on a private lake in the western Catskills of New York State, French Woods attracts campers from throughout the U.S. and around the world. We offer specialty programs in Theater, Music, Rock, Dance, Circus, Magic, Art, Video/Film, Sports, Skate Park, Adventure, Waterfront, Cooking, and Horseback riding for three, six, nine or twelve week sessions plus a final one-week session at the end of the summer.
Major and minor activities, are combined in a six-period day – the major, which is primarily instructional, being chosen at the beginning of each session and the minor, which can be recreational or instructional, being chosen on a day-to-day basis. Perform in a Broadway show with orchestra, fly on the high trapeze, produce your own movie, record original music, silk screen a tee shirt, ride a horse, dance in a ballet, play in the symphony, bake a soufflé, water ski, play tennis, jam with a rock band or play soccer, basketball or baseball. All these activities and more are available at French Woods Festival.
