The safety and health of campers and staff is always the highest priority at camp, and camps have a long history of planning for and managing communicable diseases. With the potential spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) within the United States, now is an excellent time for camps to review and update health-related plans and procedures and communicate with your camp families and staff members.

Take advantage of these sources to ensure you stay up to date on the latest information and best practices for coronavirus and communicable disease prevention and management.

Monitor the Situation

ACA will continue to share information in real time so that you can make informed decisions. Strengthen the system and processes you have in place and stay vigilant. You are no doubt used to dealing with both the expected and unexpected challenges that come with running a camp; coronavirus is no different. Continue to check in with your local health authorities and monitor the CDC resources on ACA’s coronavirus page to ensure you have the most up-to-date information. Both viruses and guidance for dealing with them can change over time. And keep your camp families and staff in the loop on all your health and safety-related efforts at camp; this is the best way to alleviate fears and to do your best to ensure that everyone has a safe and enriching camp experience this summer.
