Connect with Local Health Authorities
Chances are you have already reached out to local public resources, but building and maintaining a strong relationship with your local health department and emergency response managers is key to ensuring an appropriate community and camp response to any communicable disease threat.
Health officials are currently taking steps to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 into US communities. Camps can play an important role in this effort. Continue to collaborate, share information, and review plans with local health officials to help protect your camp community. Establish regular communications with them to ensure that they are fully informed about your camp’s communicable disease management plans and procedures, so they can best support your program. Your plans should build on everyday communicable disease prevention practices that include strategies for before, during, and after a possible outbreak. Refer to ACN's Communicable Disease in the Camp Setting resources and Coronavirus Disease FAQs.
