In Texas, day and resident camps fall under the definition of “Youth Camps” and are licensed by the Department of State Health Services per the Texas Youth Camp Safety and Health Act. The Texas Administrative Code outlines properties that do not fall under the definition of “Youth Camps” based on factors including activities, length of operations, whether the facility is one of higher education and must meet terms defined by the Texas Education Code or those required to be licensed by the Health and Human Services Commission.
